What version of udev?
Recent versions are not compatible with older kernels, they need a *very*
recent kernel

Thanks a lot, that was it.
There's an issue with genkernel too, as it didn't disabled
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED as stated during an still failing boot.
Compiled again with that key disabled, and now I'm on my favorite
environment without rescue CDs.
Have some polishing to do, though ;-)
