I'm wondering if anyone here has been able to enable web_dav to become a full fledged replacement for samba. Samba is fine, don't get me wrong, but it just sucks when it's across WANs.
My current problem lies with figuring out how to enable some sort of privilege separation. Current implementation of web_dav uses htaccess/htpasswd files and all directories are/needs to be writeable by the apache user(nobody/apache). There doesn't seem to be a bridge to enable eg: users from DeptA - read/write to dept_A_folder and dept_B_folder users from DeptB - Read only to dept_A_folder and read/write to dept_B_folder something along those lines. The other thing I need to understand also is, does web_dav work with old Win98 systems?
