It could be gentoo-nofb can't run accessibility if it's one of the kernels
not already on the install-minimal cd. Why this may be the case I don't
know that's above my pay grade. I'll check that out and find out what I
can find out. If I manage to get it installed and working I'll let you
know.

missing lots of accessibility-related material.
I've installed several other versions of Linux before and got them
accessible using material found mostly on the internet for instructions.
The first one was RedHat 5.0 when that was a current distribution.
After that, slackware, debian, fedora
I got 5.4.66 sources installed and then did:
emerge --unmerge espeakup espeak portaudio
emerge espeakup espeak portaudio
One of the messages stated config_speakup and config_speakup-synth_soft
options are not configured in this kernel and those would have to be set
correctly to avoid unexpected

I installed lxqt on a recent Ubuntu

If you really want to specify the version on the command line with a one-liner,
couple it with the `--autounmask` and

I run ~arch here, but
Okay thanks. When I tried that I got a message masked by amd64 keyword
and returned to the chroot prompt.

"rc-service elogind status" says it is stopped, but "ps auxf | grep
elogind" shows elogind-daemon is running. /run/elogind.pid has the
correct pid for the daemon. Based on we searches for similar issues, I
discovered that that /run/openrc/started/elogind did not exist. "ln -s

Just emerge =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.4.69 The = sign is
important, you can emerge any specific version in the tree this way.

emerge -1a gentoo-sources:5.4.69
You need to be running ~arch for this, or have gentoo-sources in
package.accept_keywords, 5.4.66 is the

suggested 5.4.69.

You don't *need* portaudio or Pulse, but then you'll only be able to create WAV
files, and not have

Unless you've changed anything espeak-related since the initial emerge, I don't
think `--config` will do anything. It does not have a
