But Xeon is Itanium's substitute... isn't? Nope. Itanium and Xeon are developed in parallel. Where Xeon is based off of desktop CPU architecture (x86, AMD64, et al) the Itanium (aka Itanic due to slow uptake) is a 64bit CPU completely from scratch. -- djn I do not represent anyone else
