Why are you using some external program when there is a superb support for
keybindnings in kwin?
Everything you need for keybindings is avalible in kcontrol :)

Take a look at this file:
/etc/fonts/local.conf
You can turn on / off the font hinting / whatever from there.
There are a few nice font tutorials over at gentoo-wiki.com if you're intrested.

Have you considered trying some older (and not so user friendly) terminal?
rxvt, xterm, urxvt and aterm are all pretty nice, memory efficent and fast,
and you can do everything in them that you could in gnome-term
I've been looking for something similar (using KMail), but I haven't found
anything :-(

I use KDE 3.4.1 with hald and dbus started - and when I plug my usb based

Same functionality with the DVD-reader and the CD-recorder when I insert a

Quanta+ is the best PHP IDE I've tried this far - PHPEclipse was pretty nice,
but since I couldn't open non local files, I used Quanta+.
gPHPEdit is pretty nice also, but a bit minimal :-)
