OK,
I've got portage 2.2 working and kde4.2 seems to be
ready to install. However, I'm getting a sting of packages
I need to put in the package.keywords file:
kde-base/plasma-workspace:4.2 ~amd64
kde-base/kwin:4.2 ~amd64
So I Must have missed something, like a wildcard or what

Hi all,
with KDE 4.2, it seems to be impossible to play flac files in either amarok or
juk when the gstreamer backend is used by phonon. The gstreamer flac plugin is
installed and I can play flac files from a shell using a pipe of gstreamer
commands.
Further installed are phonon-kde and phonon

Hi,
I installed kde-4.2 with USE="kdeprefix" two weeks ago and everything
I needed was working all right.
Then I decided to change my USE flags and delete kdeprefix in order to
have kde in /usr. After that I:
- Did an emerge -uDN world
- Deleted my user folders .kde*
The result was a kde-4.2 me

I recently switched to KDE 4.2 (completely removed KDE 3.5.9 and emerge
@kde-4.2) and fired up my system update script. I noticed right away
that the title bar of Konsole did not update to show my progress in my

It's there when you install 4.2 from the main portage tree.

Look in the archives, a similar question was posted a few days ago.
I have KDE 3.5 and 4.1 installed and am trying to upgrade to 4.2. I'm getting
the following:
<=kde-base/kdebase-3.5.9-r4 ("<=kde-base/kdebase-3.5.9-r4" is blocking

Is there an issue with 3.5 and 4.2 being installed together? Is the above

Hi,
since kde-4.2 seems be to unblocked now, I'd like to try it.
But there are 408 (!) blocked packages.
emerge --unmerge kde-meta
didn't do anything.
So, what's a feasible way to upgrade?
Many thanks for a hint,
Helmut.

Hi!
KDE doesn't see network intefaces. At selecting System Settings -> Network
Settings -> Network Settings an error message appears (twice) saying about XML
file parsing error (with information message about platform detecting below
the error messages), and the Network Interfaces tab is empty.

Everything is going fine now. The problem was that
/usr/lib64/qt4/libQtWebKit.so.4 was symlinked to QtWebkit 4.5 library
and that was the reason why some symbols could not be found. After
correcting the symlink the problem disappeared.
However, it seems strange to me, because I have tried and later
