Please stop using glxgears as a performance benchmark. You could double the driver's performance in real applications and glxgears would report the same or worse results.

Use a real benchmark. If app-benchmarks/phoronix-test-suite is too complex for you (it's overkill for a quick GL test), you can try some stand-alone GL benchmark. Like this:
