Thanks to Ralf and Dan who tried to help here. Funny thing though, When I do the emerge I get the bash debug prompt: Reading /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8f/work/openssl-0.9.8f/Configure: [= ] 53% done.
