Another Factor that i've realized of late is the number and size of
wildfires. The fires themselves have a most likely negligible effect on
regional temperatures, but the deforestation and the huge emission of CO2 as
a direct result of this is nothing to sneeze at either.
Warming has slowed,
DISCOUNTING AND THE OPTIMIST PARADOX
In Cost-Benefit analysis,e.g. when discussing costs and benefits of climate
change policies, or evaluating a public investment, mainstream economists
discount the future.
Why? Two reasons. First, they explain discounting by subjective
time-preference.

In this context it's interesting to note that 1) a freighter just completed
the first Asia-to-Europe trip, and 2) Russia a few days ago announced it
is starting the first-ever naval patrols along its arctic coast. It is now
a shipping lane for the first time, a development that I assume is
Poster's note - interesting but unverified deconstruction of biochar
arguments (it's important to distinguish between peer reviewed input and
peer reviewed conclusions).
Clearly there's a need for better research, and an obvious issue with
vested interests in the industry. However, this appear to
Poster's note : This is all rather hand-waving, and lacks solid numbers on
impacts. It's also not necessarily realistic to suggest industrial
agriculture is bad and grazing is good, when there don't appear to be
numbers to back up their implicit argument that a switch to grass would be
possible
Those are not the only reasons. Consider technological advancement. If
one assumes that hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will have the major cost

future cost of decarbonizing our transportation fleet could be cheaper than
The Russians launched the first satellite, and that did wonders for the US
space program. Could there be a parallel here for GE? An arms race to save the
planet...one can dream.
