surface/water properties of these other materials? Is anyone like

You're correct. I confused PV with passive solar. PV is considered active
solar and there are some plans to operate PV using solar concentrators, so
all this gets very confusing quickly. There is also only scattered (pardon)
information on diffuse solar, as it has not been the focus
