In 2012 and early 2013 the African Academy of Sciences, in partnership with
the SRM Governance Initiative (www.srmgi.org), ran a series of workshops to
introduce SRM to a range of African stakeholders and encourage open
discussion of SRM research and governance. The workshops brought
