I am +0 on this one, but perhaps I do not have the experience in managing
the libs directory of an active installation to appreciate this.
Would we need to change the maven dependency names? If so we should make a
proper blog post for any downstream developers.

I recognise the danger, but what you describe would result in a terrible
workflow for users. They would need to duck back through several screens to
add the style back in, and they would need to depend on their memory to
determine where the style was used.
