epyks23, as far as I know, layers from raster sources should be the same from a client's point of view as rendering to WMS images occurs on the server side. The main difference is the use of RasterSymbolizer in SLDs: http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/styling/sld-reference/rastersymbolizer
