Perhaps jdbcconfig import breaks on layergroups that contain other
layergroups. It's quite plausible that has never been tested out.

If you can figure out the last imported layergroupinfo, you could check
if it contains a broken reference to a layer or style. It's probably
something like that.
It might be necessary to use a debugger to find out what is going wrong,
