I'm using an external geofence (master branch) to manage security for

We have requirements where some user groups have the ability to execute

In the geofence GUI I can configure a rule to block WFS TRANSACTION as a whole.
This would be exactly what
is all that’s required – not geoserver.
Is that correct?

I have not tried GeoFence on 2.7.x yet ... but a lot of work has been done a
community module for 2.8 (including REST API and a new integrated GUI).
If you
have found
that to be effective even though probably more invasive on my part than might

Using GeoServer 2.7.2. The documentation for controlling ID generation in
spatial databases is incorrect in a small but very important detail.
The page in question is
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/data/database/primarykey.html
I spent hours chasing a problem that was based on the
Using GeoServer 2.7.2 and the matching download of GeoFence. On my local
Windows computer geofence starts up and creates its h2 (default) database by
default at the home directory of my tomcat instance. That's OK under Windows
but not Linux.
I tried creating a property override file so I can
n become so embedded in geoserver as to make that
impossible?

Thank you Andrea. I totally missed that somehow. Looks like
could simply select from your list of named layer details.
Are there better ways to solve this problem? Would this be a good feature for
geofence to have?

I want to make a fix for https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOT-5239
(Session Startup SQL on a Oracle data store will now work).
I'm new to working with the geoserver source code. At this point I can get
down the master release, add the Oracle extension, run geoserver in eclipse,
. Gets messy and I'm looking for ideas.
Thanks for any comments.

Thanks but I don't yet see how this would solve my problem? When I look at the
tutorial it shows setting up a tomcat pool that connects to oracle under a
specific user name and password.
But in my case I want to limit the number of connections to the Oracle instance
itself independent of the
specifically to this workspace that the user has no
access to.
Would this be an acceptable change to GeofenceAccessManager that I might
contribute via a pull request?

Subject: Re: [Geoserver-users] Why does geofence not block access when my rule
says to DENY the method?
Hi Walter,
I'd say the expectation is wrong, GeoFence works at the data access level and
allows you to put
requests as a context
I'm using the latest geoserver trunk code and the internal geofence-server. I
built from source using the geofence-server profile. As a test case I created
a simple rule that denies access to the WCS GetCoverage method. My rule sets
only the Service and Request fields with Access=DENY.
. But as it
stands, it apparently will not block a method from executing, so I need to come
up with something.
Thanks for the feedback, Walter

Meant to send this to only the users list-sorry for double-posting.
I'm coding a GeoServer web service and would like to support a method where
there is XML for the main request and then a zip-file as well. I'm having
trouble figuring out how to reference the zip file in my service code.
I'm
me string. In all other cases it uses
the default timezone of the JVM.

Using GeoServer2.8 I'm having a very basic problem with WFS-T inserting a
feature that has date fields. When I do a GetFeature to retrieve the date I
inserted, I get a value that's one-day prior to the date I inserted. This
appears to be related to the GeoTools xsDateTimeFormat class used to

I have layers setup in a Oracle database on a build of the master branch
geoserver. I have primary keys configured with gt_pk_metadata and configured
in the dataStore. When the layer is based on a table geoserver correctly uses
the sequence generator to generate new FIDs on the layer. If
so as to not have too many threads for
reasonable throughput. Then if more requests are received apache will say the
server is overloaded/retry. I don't want various other exceptions that are
supposed to indicate too much load but require judgement to that effect by
non-technical users.
