I am going to feel horrible if I end up holding things up. It may not be a bad
thing for you to do the release of geotool since that seem to be of priority at
this point. That will also give me more time to get myself ready since I know
what I am getting myself into.

I cann't answer how close we are if we patch the schemas to handle
ANY_ELEMENT... I think it will change the way ELEMENT is being handled in
application schema since ELEMENT_ELEMENT is an XSDElementDeclaration object and
ANY_ELEMENT is an XSDWildcard object.

we are using Geotools in a project, where we want to be OWS-proxy to
multiple map servers and work as a single standards based access point
to map data. We were going to use Geotools' objects and xml parsing
functions to work with existing map servers which provide OWS apis.
