Wow that took weeks; hopefully you still remember where the patches are that
started this journey.
The hard part with patches is writing a test case if it was not included in the
patch.

I'm really pleased that you've done the SWT module for purely selfish
reasons :) Working out with you how to extract a common foundation
for the two modules will also make it much easier for me to inject
better design into the Swing module.
