[Geotools-devel] proposed changes to make heatmap process more extensible

Hello, I'm a developer on GeoMesa, and we'd like to extend the HeatMap process by pushing some of the processing out to a distributed system. The current HeatMap process has some things that make it hard to extend, specifically I'd like to change the 'extractPoints' method to be non-static
