Hi Martin,
as I told you in a previous mail I am trying to find a way to
implement raster classification for supporting the raster symbolizer
from SLD spec.

I have the following problem which I am trying to solve.
During classification I might have the need to map a range (which by
the way could be open on one of the two side) onto a single value
(which usually is an index in a color table for palette-type
images),as an instance

[230.23, 259,98]  -->  1

I wanted to take advantage of the categories for doing this task but I
see a few problems which I think we could solve:

1>Such transformation is not allowed in actual implementation of
categories but I think it really should.

I tried to force the implementation to return a Constant1D transform
in such case, but things do not work properly.

2>There is no way to define a range such as (a,b] or similar, where
one of the extrema is not comprised.

3>We should find a way to allow users to define ranges like (-inf, a].

I tried to fix some of these issues myself but I would like to hear
your opinion first.

Simone.
