I would be happy to do it as well, however I think we need to get a
wider agreement that it is ok to kill FeatureResults#reader() first.

All done, xml and jdbc have been ripped out of main.
One notable thing I had to do to make it work as remove all the
dependencies from the feature model on the GMLSchema class.
The dependency was in setting the namespace of a feature type when one
