Dear all, I am recruiting a research fellow to work with me at Dublin City University. This 12-month post is funded by Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and will support the development, writing, and production of Ireland’s first Five Year Assessment Report on Climate Change.
The report will provide an authoritative assessment of our understanding of climate change in an Irish context. The report will be provided in a series of four thematic volumes with an overarching synthesis report. Three of the four volumes will reflect the structures used by the IPCC in addressing fundamental scientific understanding, adaptation to climate change and mitigation of climate change. The fourth volume will focus on realising the benefits of the required transition and transformation arising from climate change. Funding has been provided by the EPA to DCU to co-lead the writing of Volume 4, “Realising the benefits of transition and transformation”. The successful candidate will work with me in conjunction with colleagues in University College Cork and Trinity College Dublin to research, develop, and deliver this volume of the report. The volume will explore multiple strands of transformation towards a climate resilient and climate neutral economy and society, including: resource use & restoring the natural environment; human settlements; livelihoods; and lifestyles. It will also explore how these multiple transformations can be facilitated, including the role of relevant enabling conditions across the domains of: (i) Policy, governance, institutions & international cooperation; (ii) Finance, investment, business & innovation; and (iii) societal engagement & participation, among other relevant fields. Applicants must have a PhD in environmental social science or a cognate discipline, ideally with a focus on climate change, and a minimum of 4 years postdoctoral experience.
