Nonsense. I started this D/L five minutes ago. I get no meaningful
filename or embedded program information, but the program downloads ok:
D:\Users\Nick\scripts>get_iplayer --pid="b08nz0j0"

Not so.
The last time this happened Vangelis provided a work-around, which you
confirmed as working!
See yours of 14 March 2017 at 14:02.
It's slow but does work.

Sorry, you're saying that --pid isn't working for you? Which version of
get_iplayer? It's been fine for me so far -- is it just some PIDs that

As CJB said, in the article you originally responded to, --pid works
fine, for me too with 2.99. What's your full command line? Maybe it
depends /which/ pid? Or on some other option?

the result I got was named get_iplayer_-_b06r030v_b06r030v_original.mp4!
The correct programme was downloaded, it's just that the appropriate fields

Not totally. I just tried a test download and because the item wasn't in
the cache the result I got was named
get_iplayer_-_b06r030v_b06r030v_original.mp4! The correct programme was
downloaded, it's just that the
2.99 still working here, under Ubuntu, for at least one PID.
I use a script to generate the get_iplayer command line as below:
get_iplayer

--get --nopurge --fileprefix '--'
