        Yes, ggi3d is a rendering pipeline abstraction, but "over" GL is
not really what happens.  "Around" GL (or anything else) would be more
accurate.  Think of LibGGI3D as CORBA for graphics rendering systems.  It
is designed to encapsulate, expose interfaces to and provide location
transparency for arbitrary types of graphics context units, just as CORBA
was designed to do for business objects (and now arbitrary objects).
