        Just went online and saw that as well - VERY interesting...

        You also et a copy of the Photoshop SDK with every copy of 
Photoshop - it's on the CD (or at least used to be).

        The changes between 6 & 7 were minor at best - nothing 
significant that should effect GIMP.  There are still many things 
that the GIMP has to support in the 4 and 5 formats, let alone 6 and 
7.
