Hi,

I'm representing CREATE project [1]

Creative Free and Open Source projects such as Blender, GIMP,
Inkscape, Scribus, Audacity, Open Clip Art Library and others are
highly successful projects which produce much video, audio,
illustrations, photos, and other content.

However, much code, media, and infrastructure are produced by each
project somewhat independently which could be shared inter-project.
For example, several of the aforementioned applications have their own
brush types, color preferences, preferred media storage locations,
keyboard shortcuts and file format converters. Sharing these resources
saves developer time, increases productivity, and contributes to an
overall improved user experience.

Because of this overlap and the similarity of media, there is need to
work together on standards, promotions, and inter-community plans. So,
goals of our project are:

- to reach agreement on standards between developers of different
creative applications;
- to improve existing resources formats to make them meet requirements
from power users (like DTP people);
- to create and support openclipart-like repository of shared
resources with periodical releases.

Following areas of interest in our project are related to GIMP's development:

- Shared resources [2];
- new uniform color swatches file format [3];
- clipboard exchange;
- terminology.

Meeting place for discussions is our mailing list [4]. If you think
that you can contribute, please join it. We also provide a planet-type
blog aggregation [1], so if you are a GIMP developer/contributor and
you feel like you want to share your ideas and plans in a less
official form, let us know.

Best regards,
Alexandre
