The CD idea is cute, I have to agree. There is a tiny problem. I can hold the ruler _near_ my screen but I cannot use it to measure the screen because it is too big and won't touch the surface. So now I have to look for _another_ ruler. We could mandate that all Gimp users buy 19" monitors? I experienced the same problems: on some monitors, I cannot use my ruler accurately because the ruler is too big and the edges of the monitor prevent me from putting it on the surface. On an old monitor that is badly curved, I could touch the surface with one end of the ruler but the other end was several centimeters away from the surface because the ruler was not flexible enough. Using A4 paper would be a nice solution because it can easily follow the surface of curved screens. Also, if you have a small monitor and an A4 sheet will not fit (in landscape mode), then you can fold it in two and you get A5, which can also be measured easily without loosing much precision. I've had two "letter" papers vary in size by almost half a centimeter! Oooh well, another reason to use DIN papers, metric systems and such. If countries have problems with papers, how can the put things on Mars? /me ducks and runs ;P GSR ___ Gimp-developer mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer

But the error is on both sides of the "correct" standard, so I dunno. Paper marketed specifically for printers does seem to be more standardized, but I've still seen a noticable (maybe 1/16") difference between sheets. That's nothing for a printer, but it's enough to get your resolution subtily wrong. :( Rockwalrus ___ Gimp-developer mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer
