Camera Raw, I don't see why gimp should necessarily include a raw loader.
Perhaps maintainers could bundle gimp with ufraw, but to combine the two
projects makes little sense.

All you have to do is set marching ants speed to 10 and watch it ramp up
the CPU.
Perhaps setting marching ants speed to 0 should simply disable the updates
altogether? Generate the ants at one time, and don't bother updating them
again...

Here's a brand new build of Gimp for osx, directly from the 2.8.2 tarball.
I have included python and theme support, and it was built using jhbuild
and gtk-mac-bundler.
I have included no plugins, as they tend to quickly increase the size of
the gimp application.
