I would suggest to make it an optional package.

Good idea. better idea for post 2.4 metinks, would be a simple brush
manager. So you can enable brushes, individually and as sets.

Also, 2.6 will (finally, hopefully, definitely, ...) have categories
so it will be easier to manage more brushes, patterns etc.

Fair enough :) When things have settled down after 2.4's release let's
take this back up then. Thanks!

[Gimp-developer] Additional Default Brushes for 2.4?

2007-09-11 Thread Máirín Duffy
Hey folks!!

I know it must be terribly, horribly, ridiculously, and extremely late
to suggest this at this point in the 2.4 cycle but -

I recently got in contact with a very talented Gimp brush artist on
deviantart.com; she's made a number of brushes that seem to be the sort
that would be generally useful in a default Gimp install. She told me
she is willing to license them under the GPL (they are currently
Creative Commons BY-NC-ND) if they would be considered for inclusion
into the Gimp. Links to the brushes are here:

If these seems like they'd be valuable to include, I can get you in
touch with her.

Thanks for listening!

p.s. BTW, AWESOME work on 2.4 so far, I've been using RC 1 for a while
now and I have to say it feels a lot more comfortable to use - it's
gotten me really excited about the Gimp all over again. :)

Re: [Gimp-developer] Additional Default Brushes for 2.4?

2007-09-11 Thread David Gowers
I like these brushes a lot. They can be cut down to 20 rather than the
original 154, since 2.4 includes brush scale adjustment, and I have
mentioned this to iceytina at the last of your links.

I would like to take this opportunity to plug my particular
contribution to 2.4, the palette navigation actions (allowing you to
move through the active palette, changing FG color to match; try
pressing '9' or '0'. Requires having the palette editor open
somewhere.)
