I imagine it could be anything. A few more
details might usefully constrain my imagination;
try filling out Xach's Splendid Gimp Bug Report
Form at http://www.xach.com/gimp/news/bugreport.html.
which asks a few questions intended to document oft overlooked
details, such as the particular version of Gimp you are using
and a few more details about your computer/operating system,
all which may contribute to plug-in misbehavior.
Are your plug-ins left-overs from a previous version?
(Do remove old traces of prior Gimps so as not to have
version mismatches among libraries, modules, plug-ins
and the Gimp itself)
Does your problem seem similar to any existing report

In particular, does it seem similar to
