I'm trying to catalog my photos I've got a negative scanner which scans
them in 12 twelve at a time (epson 2450 photo) is there a script I can
run it through to get 12 individual images?

at what point are you having the problem?
guash and gimp-freetype configures don't work if they find an old
gimptool in /usr/ if you are working with a gimp in /usr/local.
