I compiled gimp 2.0.5 on SuSE 9.0 and when trying to write some text into
texttool dialog it crashes(whole GIMP) with SIGSEGV error on
script-fu: wire_read() . Does anyone have an idea what problem can I
have? Versions 2.0.0 and 2.0.3 worked perfectly.

It has been suggested that the problem is with freetype. I upgraded to
freetype 2.1.9 and it seemed to work fine for a period of about 15
minutes, then crashed.

But I discussed this problem on #gimp too and the suggestion was similar. We
found that the problem can be combination of old freetype and old pango. These
libraries I don't have up-to-date so the problem can be here. I compiled
back G2.0.3 till I'll upgrade
