You are right. This is a silly bug in GIMP and it is recreated by checking "rounded corners" and then checking "antialiasing" and then unchecking rounded corners. "Antialiasing" becomes disabled - goodness knows why. This stays even if you restart GIMP! Arrgh! You undo this by checking rounded corners again so antialiasing becomes enabled again, then unchecking "antialiasing" and then again unchecking "rounded corners".
