[Gimp-user] paint with patterns

Is it possible to use the airbrush (or any paint tools) to paint with the
patterns?

Not with the paint tool, but you can set the clone tool to use a pattern source.

Furthermore, if you want specifically the airbrush, you can do that 
with layer masks. 
Fill a  layer above the one you want to paint with your pattern, 
create a layer mask for it, and select Black (all trasnparent). Then 
use paint on this mask with white, using wahtever tool you want.
