 So you are searching for the sourcecode of the sane
 GIMP plugin, correct? You'll find it in the SANE tarball
 which you'll find on www.mostang.com.
 In worst case you need to set CFLAGS="-O2 -DGIMP_ENABLE_COMPAT_CRUFT"
 to compile the gimp plugin.

I think he is actually looking for XSane, a much improved 
frontend for the Sane library. A quick search on freshmeat
gains http://www.wolfsburg.de/~rauch/sane/sane-xsane.html.
