The built-in T-A-P starts the text on t
te it
with ease. It's simple and the Help file is quite clear on how to do it.

- Activate Path tool
- Click in two places in the image to make a straight path
- Drag from the middle of the path upwar

I don't want to be discouraging but text on a path just doesn't work in GIMP
2.10.18. The online Help doc is useless here.
