I'm just a first time user. The only thing I see is a very big and blank gimp
screen telling me to drag dialogs to the side. Is there Not a Default with lots
of nice widows and icons already there? How do i get to that point.

Could it be as simple as the time on the Windows server \\FILESERVER
where you saved your file is off?
Try saving a text file to t:\Ginny\Temporary and see if you see the same
results.
