[Gimp-user] Gimp crashes on startup
Missing points in my first post: Windows 10 Family 64 bits Asus UX303UA Intel Core i5-6200U 8 GB RAM I checked with official Gimp versions 2.8.16, 2.8.18, 2.8.20, 2.8.22. Gimp worked flawlessly until 2.8.20. I installed 2.8.22 on May 18, did successfully a first load without any image then I decided that I wanted to change the theme so I downloaded a package of themes and tried the different themes until I decided which one I preferred. Of course this meant closing and opening Gimp many times and I never experienced any issue. AFAICT, I last used Gimp successfully for image editing on may 15. According to the Windows applications dialog, none of the applications above had any upgrade since last time I used Gimp successfully (May 18). According to Windows Update, there were Windows updates installed on May 16, 23 and 24. -- davitof (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Gimp crashes on startup
Hello, I am using Gimp on my Windows 10 laptop. Yesterday, when I started Gimp, after an unusually long waiting time, I got a Windows Error dialog: Runtime Error! C:\(...)gimp-2.8.exe. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Then Windows tells me he most close Gimp. In the Windows Event list, I find this (sorry, I am using a French version of WIndows): Nom de l’application défaillante gimp-2.8.exe, version : 2.8.22.0, horodatage : 0x00c9b800 Nom du module défaillant : libcairo-2.dll, version : 0.0.0.0, horodatage : 0x654702b7 Code d’exception : 0x4015 Décalage d’erreur : 0x000acd52 ID du processus défaillant : 0x3d60 Heure de début de l’application défaillante : 0x01d2d560fa2a4fa1 Chemin d’accès de l’application défaillante : C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\gimp-2.8.exe Chemin d’accès du module défaillant: C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\libcairo-2.dll ID de rapport : 8c484136-5ca3-4047-8cc6-4dc1d3e68c22 Nom complet du package défaillant : ID de l’application relative au package défaillant : My first idea was to uninstall and reinstall Gimp. Same result. Then I uninstalled Gimp again and tried to reinstall older versions: 2.8.20, 2.8.18 and 2.8.16 gave the same crash. I did a little research on the Internet and I found something about conflicting installations and libintl-8.dll. So I searched for all occurrences of libintl-8.dll and of and renamed the app folders of all except Gimp (avidemux, Clementine, GtkSharp, KDiff, LG Electronics, Poedit, Virtaal, Raw Therapee, Shotcut), but I still get the same crash. Now I realize that under Windows 10, this proves nothing, I can still run those applications even with renamed folders. Of course, I could completely uninstall all those apps, but if there is a simpler and less radical way to solve my issue, I'd rather use it first! Does any one have a suggestion how I could make Gimp work again? -- davitof (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] 2.8.22 is wacky
This thread is about the statement that there was no such function in Gimp, and the request that I provide a link to the mention of this in the Gimp manual, which I provided. My problem regarding the difference between 2.8 and 2.6 was referenced in the original message regarding the inability to select the move tool in 2.8 (which resulted in selection of the path tool instead of the move tool) I think that I adequately stated that that inability, present in 2.8 functions as it should in 2.6 Seems that perhaps those coding Gimp are probably not the ones who coded the earlier versions, or apparently are unaware for some reason of the functions or the content of the manual. I can only tell how it works for me - I select the tools the same way in both versions, with the results as described For those reasons, I am using 2.6 as the version that functions for me Not sure I can explain it any better than this *Nate Owens* www.nateowens.com nateowen...@gmail.com On Fri, May 26, 2017 at 8:02 AM, Michael Schumacherwrote: > On 05/26/2017 06:05 AM, Nate Owens wrote: > > > On Thu, May 25, 2017 at 8:28 PM, Michael Schumacher > > wrote: > > >> Align to path? My lab, who is a printer requires 200 dpi. from their printers which *they* control, not you. an image does not present dots per inch and you cannot give them something not existing. if you/they are actually referring to pixels, ppi, use the correct term and use it to describe the crop area of the image. that capability *is* provided by gimp and will lead you to less confusion. also when describing a problem, using the wrong terms leads to incorrect assumptions for those attempting to provide you a solution. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.orgopenSUSE Community Memberfacebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535@ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
