Try (in the image with the shadow) image->flatten image, first.
Or, use Edit->Copy Visible instead of Copy

The shadow is probably on a separate layer.

[Gimp-user] Can't copy and paste drop shadow

2019-06-19 Thread robot

Hi all
I have an image on a transparent background that I am able to create a drop
shadow for (however quality of the shadow color is very poor). When I draw a box
round it and copy and past the subject onto my other piture/ layer the shadow
dose not come with it!

Any ideas on a fix please

[Gimp-user] GIMP changed the save as dialog box file type for all apps

2019-06-19 Thread David B Kelly via gimp-user-list
After installing the latest version I noticed that when in other applications I
perform a save as operation on a jpg photo the dialog box
comes up with file type GIMP even though I have changed all associations away
from GIMP. In fact when I open Windows 10 App settings
and go to set default file types by application, GIMP does not even show up on
the list.
How can I revert this to the default settings?
Thanks

The Subject: line says all. I have 2.10.12 downloaded from

[Gimp-user] installing older plug-in

2019-06-19 Thread David_Beroff
The Gaussian Blur plug-in was significantly changed at some point in recent
months. When used as a keyboard shortcut, it used to retain the prior blur
radius values (et. al.) and would simply work by hitting the Enter key (which
acted the same as hitting "OK"), i.e., two quick keystrokes Now, the radius
needs to be re-set for every single usage, (either manually, with a Preset, or
with a click near "Size X"), the Enter key stopped working, and the selection
tool type also gets reset, (whereas before, it wouldn't). I have a team of
several people, and they each have to make hundreds of blurs per hour, so this
recent change is highly annoying and time-consuming.

Since GIMP is open source, I had a thought that perhaps there would be a way
that we could simply resurrect the earlier plug-in version, so my question is:
How?

(We're only GIMP users, not developers.)

Thank you!

When saving a JPEG, in the advanced options, there is a toggle to save the
current settings as the default. That should fix any script using
file-save.  PNG has the same.

please try using gimp-file-jpeg-save instead - it has a quality parameter. You
can find it in the procedural db.

[Gimp-user] gimp-file-save : how to specify the JPEG quality

2019-06-19 Thread Helmut Jarausch via gimp-user-list

Hi,

I've found a script for batch "wavelet sharpening" all images in a
folder.

This .scm script uses the function gimp-file-save.
The (sharpened) image has only 6 instead of 10 Mbytes. A JPEG quality
estimator shows

98% for the original file and only 90% for the sharpened file.
When exporting a file to JPEG interactively one can specify the quality.
But how to do this in a non-interactive procedure.

Here is the full procedure
;
; Version 1.0 07.02.2012 for capnhud

; See http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=8=3701

; command line
; gimp -i -f -d --verbose -b "(batch_wavelet_sharpen
\".jpg\" \"sharpened\")" -b "(gimp-quit 0)"

(define selffilename "\n- batch_wavelet_sharpen.scm")

; Batch mode wrapper
(define (batch_wavelet_sharpen amount radius file_extension
destination_directory)

  (let*
(
  (destination_file "")
  (varFileList (cadr (file-glob (string-append "*" file_extension)
1))) ; make a list of all the files that match the file extension

  ; Adjust these values to suit
;  (amount 0.3)
;  (radius 1.0)
  (luminance TRUE)
)
(gimp-message-set-handler ERROR-CONSOLE)
(if (not (file-exists? destination_directory))
  (error (string-append "Error: directory " destination_directory
" doesn't exist"))

  (if (= (file-type destination_directory) FILE-TYPE-DIR)
()
(error (string-append destination_directory " is not a
directory"))

  )
)

; loop through all the files in the list
(for-each
  (lambda (filename)
(let* (
   (image (car (gimp-file-load RUN-NONINTERACTIVE filename
filename)))  ; load the image

   (drawable (car (gimp-image-flatten image)))
  )
  (gimp-message (string-append "processing-" filename))

; Thing to do goes here
  (plug-in-wavelet-sharpen RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image
drawable amount radius luminance)

  (set! destination_file (string-append
destination_directory DIR-SEPARATOR filename))
  (gimp-file-save RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image drawable
destination_file destination_file)
  (gimp-image-delete image)  ; unload the
image

)
  )
  varFileList
)
  )
)
