It's not that complex. Spend an hour or so experimenting and he ought to be
able to do basic stuff. I made the transition from another program easily
enough a while back.

Do you mean on Windows? Last time I looked there was no way of doing this on
a 64bit linux system.  Have things changed?

I had a problem with the mouse cursor flickering, although more rapidly
than you report. This has just been cured by an update to my graphics
driver. Maybe your problem is similar. You could try a different version of
your driver?

Indeed.  It would be even more awesome if there was a facility to run
Adobe-style filters.  IIRC there used to be a 32bit program that allowed
that.

Well that was the type of explanation I was offering, but you said it was
100% unrelated to 32bit.

I'm running 64bit Gimp on 64bit Ubuntu 12.04, so I assume the mismatch is
that the plugin is 32bit.
