Well, try and get Gimp working first.
I suggested XnViewMP as an image manager/browser because it is multi-platform
and I do not know your OS.

When I save any Gimp 2.8.22 image in a folder, it won't give, me a preview of it
in the preview pane. I have to open it up in Gimp again to see what it is. How
do I fix this?

Sorry, it's Windows 10, any image file saved through Gimp. I figured it
