So im trying to fix a few pictures i took that have to much shine. I'm attaching

I got a new laptop and had to redownload GIMP. However, when I opened it,
everything was is Japanese. I can read a little bit, so it's not as big as a
problem as it usually would be. I'm trying to look for an English download to

So I have been following this process

text to path in Gimp. The forst time it worked perfectly. But ever since, I
keep getting weird lines that shoot out of the path. I can't seem to figure out
why this is happening.

Working on the file with a NEW NAME (so you don't mess up the original):
1. With the lasso tool, select the bright areas that you want to darken.
2. Make sure to feather the selection a lot—like 150 or more px.!
3. Colors > Brightness make it a negative value (less than zero).
