The page at http://docs.gimp.org/ provides HTML output for the manual. You can check at https://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp-help-2/log/ about the recent changes. Thus, if you managed to find an older PDF for the GIMP manual, you can deduce what changes your old copy may be missing. If someone would like to help here, they can get a copy of the Git repository at git://git.gnome.org/gimp-help-2 and produce a fresh copy of the latest PDF. Having Linux or Mac around (not always a case, really). 2. Having the complete toolchain installed for building PDF files (requires expertise). 3. Studying how it all works (it's a simple command. and yet...). I think it's time we simply bring back up-to-date PDFs.
