[Gimp-user] GEGL operation missing!

2014-09-28 Thread Hannu

Hello

A heads up

# Installation, as described at
https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/gimp-edge

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp
sudo apt-get install gimp-resynthesizer

# This is now required due to changes recently (do not know exact date
when it broke):

sudo apt-get install libgegl-dev

/Hannu

And why that is so:

$ gimp --verbose
GEGL-geglmodule.c-Message: Module
'/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gegl-0.3/seamless-clone.so' load error:
libgegl-sc-0.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

-- dialog ---
GEGL operation missing!

GIMP requires the GEGL operation gegl:seamless-clone.
This operation cannot be found. Check your
GEGL install and ensure it has been compiled
with any dependencies required for GIMP.
--- [OK] ---

$ ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gegl-0.3/libgegl-sc-0.3.so
ls: cannot access /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gegl-0.3/libgegl-sc-0.3.so:
No such file or directory

$ ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gegl-0.3/ | wc -l
180

$ apt-file find libgegl-sc-0.3.so

$ apt-file find apt-get | wc -l
29

-- fix ---

Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

This ppa repository is not supported by the GIMP team, but by an third
party individual to be contacted by other means (he reads this mailing
list though, as far as I know, but this is not his official channel).

This said, for the development version of GIMP, the development
version of GEGL is always necessary. They go as a pair now.

[Gimp-user] Gegl Operation Missing

https://launchpad.net/%7Eotto-kesselgulasch/+archive/gimp-edge

Sorry for this silly questions, because I cannot reproduce this issue.

I'm running Kubuntu 13.10 - Saucy - 64 bit.

Regards

I am running Ubuntu 13.10, and was running Gimp 2.9 - installed from your PPA.
When I first installed it, it ran just fine, then started throwing up error
messages with new tiff files derived from my Image Data Converter or Irfanview.

I uninstalled, reinstalled, and then, this new problem where Gimp won't start at
all.

I have since purged your ppa and reinstalled 2.8 (latest version), and it is
working fine.

The above notwithstanding, I am very excited to see the progress on version 2.9.
I had it installed on my Win7 setup, and, while it seemed to run very slow, it
had no problem handling 16-bit tiffs.

On the Linux side, your ppa ran very crisply.

Looking forward to when I can get it working again.

Thanks for the reply.

Is it possible giving me a link to those tiff files? I hope the images
are harmless.

Have you some strange plug-ins installed?

Sorry, but it's a development version. ;-)

Some day it works.

No problem.

[Gimp-user] Gegl Operation Missing

2013-11-24 Thread Carusoswi
So, I have installed/uninstalled Gimp 2.9, it's not working. Would like to
re-install Gimp 2.8, but forget how to do that. I've been using the software
center.

At any rate, whichever version I now have installed throws up the following
message when I start the application:

GEGL Operation Missing
Gimp requires the GEGL Operation Gegl-Seamless-Clone

Check your GEGL install and insure it has been compiled with any dependencies
required for Gimp.

. . . well, I am at a loss as to how to go about this.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks, this worked (of course).
I have Yppa installed, but, for some reason, could not accomplish the task.

I am now rolled back successfully to version 2.8.8.

Have tried re-installing 2.9, but keep getting the same message.

What might I be doing wrong?

Thanks again.
