[Gimp-user] G'mic error : g_getenv could not be located in libgimp-2.0-0.dll

2018-04-09 Thread imaginniko
Thank you. I installed the GTK version and while the startup error still occurs,
at least it appears under Filters and works.

[Gimp-user] G'mic error : g_getenv could not be located in libgimp-2.0-0.dll

2018-04-09 Thread imaginniko
Hi,

I am trying to get g'mic to work in Gimp 2.10 RC1. but the following error
occurs with it tries to load the gmic_gimp_qt.exe.

Have installed gmic in it's own folder "C:\GimpPlugin\gmic_gimp_qt" and have
listed that folder in Gimp's plugin folder list.

Please advice?

Thanks.

Sorry for the trouble you are having. Typically this has to do with all
kinds of DLLs dumped in your personal folders by plugins.

In any case, I don't know why you are reinstalling G'MIC since it come
pre-installed with my builds. My G'MIC builds are the latest based on my
release date. I even mention this on my website.

Well, let me know if you have trouble or good luck with your installation.

[Gimp-user] G'MIC compatibility / Re: Gimp 2.9.4 windows installer

2017-05-05 Thread Casey Connor

my way again. I have installed 2.9.5 now and have run into g'mic problems with
gmic-gimp.exe causing an error on startup. I have removed gmic completely and
reinstalled it, but there must be an old reference floating about somewhere as I
can still not use it. Will do a complete reinstall of 2.9.5 and g'mic today
after a registry cleanout and see if that makes a difference.

I take it you are on Windows... I'm on Linux, but for whatever it's
worth the only current 2.9.5 linux version of GIMP that I found that
works with G'MIC is the http://pixls.us/files AppImage (AFAIK there are
only AppImages for linux). The current otto-kesselgulasch GIMP version
does not seem to work with GMIC. Thorsten S. was looking in to it, last
I heard, and said that it was going to be non-trivial to fix. (Any
update, Thorsten?)

The general picture I get is that things are in flux and maintaining
G'MIC/GIMP compatibility is not easy as things evolve. Even the pixls.us
AppImage only works for one invocation of G'MIC when dealing with large
images. (My bug report is here
.)

I don't know if this info is useful or at all related, but thought I'd
mention it.

[Gimp-user] G'MIC Dream Smoothing filter

2014-08-07 Thread kentlytle
An image size is expressed in pixels, not in bytes of file space,
because this depends too much on compression algorithms and actual
image
contents.

Since 500k-1MB is the usual disk space size for JPEG images around
4Mpx,
we will assume you are talking about 800Mpx images (25000x25000), 4GB
once loaded

I don't think changing the algorithm is going to help much. What can
be
done is cut your image into smaller images of manageable size (with
possibly some overlap), apply the filter on each and then blend the
results.

Otherwise the GMIC authors hang out on gimpchat.com and on flickr
(https://www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discuss)

Thank you very much for your reply to my query.

Sorry about the incorrect expression for image size. The image I am working on
right now is 10328 pixels x 7760 pixels, about 69 x 52 (175 cm x 132 cm) at
150 pixels per inch, 230 mb in uncompressed RAW format.

Unfortunately applying the filter on smaller segments of the image then merging
them does not work as it would for a filter that produces an even effect over
all. The flowing pixel effect this filter produces results in unique patterns
for each segment and there is no cohesiveness to the patterns when pieces are
reassembled.

I have posted my query on gimpchat.com as well.

Thank you again for your input.

This doesn't sound too large; what environment -- operating system and version,
gimp version, g'mic version, how much memory, how much swap space (if Linux, OS
X, Solaris etc. the top or htop commands are often easy ways to get this info,
or free).

What happens exactly when you try running the filter?

E.g. if g'mic crashes do you have a stack trace?

For contacting the author did you try looking on http://gmic.sourceforge.net/ ?

[Gimp-user] G'MIC Dream Smoothing filter

2014-08-06 Thread kentlytle
Hello:

I need to be able to apply the Dream Smoothing filter to relatively large image
sizes, 100 to 200 megabytes.

Currently it works well on relatively small images, 500 kb to 1000 kb.

I have tried to use the Oil Paint filter in PhotoShop which produces similar
effects, but it has similar file size limitations also.

Does anyone know how to get in contact with the filter's author, Arto Huotari? I
haven't been able to find his e-mail address on-line.

I need to find someone who knows how to change the filter's algorithm to work
with larger file sizes.

I do not have any programming background. I would like to hire someone capable
of doing this for me.

Kind regards,
Kent

Tried this version under :
Linux Mint, Gimp 2.8.2, and it looks good.

Windows 7 64 bit, Gimp 2.8.6, and it fails with error message
The procedure entry point __gxx_personality_sj0 could not be located in the

It would be helpful to know if anyone else has this problem, and how it can
be resolved.

It means that your Gimp was built with one version gcc (and associated
libstdc++) and you have another in your path.

I only have one version, as installed with Gimp 2.8.6.
G'MIC for Gimp 2.6 had one in the package, but there isn't one with 1.5.6.1.
So it looks like a possible G'MIC for Windows packaging problem.

I'll stick with the Mint option.

Thanks for your response.

Hello,

G'MIC is a separate project and the G'MIC's GIMP filters are not
released as core filters. So you should ask them directly if you have
any questions about these filters: http://gmic.sourceforge.net/
