Really it is as much artistic as it is Gimp tools.

One way. Use as large an image as you can get, the bigger the better.

Paint out the Superman logo and paint in any contours:

You can get batman logos that already have a transparent background, no need to
remove one. Size that to suit, paste in as a new layer, move and rotate then
apply a little distortion using the IWarp tool. Filters -> Distorts -> IWarp

Before applying a bump map, make the batman logo the full image size, Layer ->
Layer to image size. It has to match the underlying superman image (the painted
in one), otherwise an offset is applied. There is no noticeable light direction
so settings are simple see: https://i.imgur.com/2NWT0P7.jpg

[Gimp-user] logo application

2018-03-12 Thread Gimp_Noob
I am a relatively inexperienced gimp user. I was recently asked by someone to
replace the logo of an existing character with a different logo while
maintaining the contours of the original image e.g. muscle definition.
I could use the perspective tool to position the logo on the character but it
would lose the definition lines.

I read about bump maps and other tools, but frankly I'm not sure what would be
appropriate for my project.
I've attached an example of what I'm trying to do. In this case, I would need to
replace the Superman logo with the Batman logo without losing the definition
lines. This isn't the character or logo that I've been given but I think it's a
good example of my problem. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

I have seen some artists and photographers who have added watermarks across
their pictures or put the watermark just in the corner. I have also seen a
tutorial where a watermark was hidden in a picture using the alpha channel.

If you do an internet search there are many tutorials on adding a watermark
to an image using GIMP.

I personally am not a fan of watermarks, as I feel it is distracting and
pointless.

With that being said, open the image you want to watermark.
Then use File - Open as layers...
Choose your logo.
Move it to the location you want, and set the opacity of logo layer to
whatever suits you (and/or use a different blending mode like Overlay).

Export.
Voila.

I have a logo in various formats, including png, and want to place our
logo on some of my pictures which are in a jpeg format.. I am not sure of
the percentage, but I am guessing maybe 10% of the total. Is this possible
 with GIMP.

 Thanks,

 Jim

Hi Jim,

Yes, you can do it. Open your photo, then add your logo as a new layer via
'File - Open As Layer' menu, then in the Layers dialog lower the Opacity
slider's position.

Jim,

This is quite easy to do in Gimp using manual methods, but if you have
more than a few to do, then I use Imagemagick
http://www.imagemagick.org/ and create a script that does this.

Using the Imagemagick methods and other scripting techniques (perhaps
Perl with the Imagemagick Perl module) one can, for example, vary the
size of the watermark based on the size of the underlying image.

I used to use these Imagemagick/scripting techniques to create JPEGs (in
four different sizes of each, with the four resulting sizes constrained
by the original size based on some very complex logic) and add watermark
to _tens of thousands_ of original TIFF files (leaving the TIFF files
unchanged, unwatermarked so that they are available to me for other uses).

It is very powerful stuff, but it can take a bit of work to learn.

You might consider reducing the viewing size and pixel size of the image
provided for display and forgo watermarking it. Most aren't interested
in stealing something that is not really beneficial. Just adjust the
size and quality until you feel safe.

The logo is available in the source code archive file and in Git as an SVG file.

You can save it and then open with e.g. Inkscape.

[Gimp-user] logo copyright information

2012-01-11 Thread andres
Hey guys!	I'm in the process of creating a user guide for gimp geared toward people who want to easily and cheaply build their own websites. I was wondering if i could have permission to use the gimp logo for non-commercial use. To be more clear I plan to give an introduction of this guide away for free. My second question is if it would be okay for me to use the gimp logo for commercial use. I would like to sell the full guide for a reasonable amount of money (no more than 10 USD). It has and will continue to take me a great deal of time to put together this guide, and I would love to be compensated for the work. However, I would understand if a commercial version was frowned upon. I will not be using assets that i found on the internet or anything made by someone else. I have created a custom vector image of the gimp logo and put it in silhouette. I only want to use a part of the logo for the design of the cover. I also have taken the time to re-create the gimp font logo by hand in vector form. I'm attaching an example of what I propose to do with the design of the cover of the guide and the website. Thank you for your time.-andres___
