Have you installed some package called "fontconfig-infinality"? That's a known problem that many people experienced when installing this package. Even a developer of infinality could reproduce it (see http://www.infinality.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=229). I don't know if they ever fixed it. Here is our bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708052 Check the screenshots if that looks like your problem, but the "green halo around white text" description seems similar enough. :-) There is no solution from us. This is a third party package, which is not even our upstream (because we base ourselves on fontconfig, not fontconfig-infinality).
