[Gimp-user] Transparency in a .png image

I have an image with a black background and red and yellow text. I need to make the background transparent so I can upload it to a T-shirt printer. Maybe I'm having a blonde moment but I can't find anyway to do it. Not in the menues and not on the net. Can someone help me? Olle

[Gimp-user] Question about Gimp2.2

I have downloaded and installed Gimp2.2 from an outside source.   When I click on the desktop Icon, the program starts to intialize but during that process it tells me there is No Disk in my CD drive.   Is there a CD available? Where do I get that?   Jude Sutton ___
