I'm a new user to GIMP so I imagine I'm doing something wrong; every time I paste a "selection" from a jpeg in GIMP into a new image or layer, the result is a jpeg "logo", not the image. I have not had the same problem with .png or .tif files. I'm using GIMP on a Mac with Snow Leopard.
