At first I had a background with a layer above it -- I then merged the layers and the layer box shows just one, "Background". It wouldn't work with either of these. I've also just noticed that, selecting "Aligned" and Ctrl-clicking near the spot I want to cover, when clicking with the clone tool, the cursor showing where it is to get the colour from is far away from where it should be. > On Sunday 25 November 2001 07:48 am, Chris Martin wrote: > I am trying to use the clone tool. > > Following GUM, I select a brush, select the clone tool, control-click > on the part of the photo I want to copy and then move to the part I > want to modify -- the clone tool is always accompanied by a "No Entry" > sign and will do nothing. > > It is a black and white photo, I have changed from grayscale to RGB, > merged layers, saved the image, restarted gimp, everything I can think > of but still a "No Entry" sign and no cloning. > > Does anybody know why? > > (Nothing I can find on google or groups.google.com) ___ Gimp-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user ___ Gimp-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

I'm assuming you have a single layer in your image, but you might not, if the source layer is empty it won't let you paint. -mh On Sunday 25 November 2001 07:48 am, Chris Martin wrote: > I am trying to use the clone tool. > > (Nothing I can find on google or groups.google.com) > ___ > Gimp-user mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user ___ Gimp-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] "No Entry" sign and the clone tool
I am trying to use the clone tool. Following GUM, I select a brush, select the clone tool, control-click on the part of the photo I want to copy and then move to the part I want to modify -- the clone tool is always accompanied by a "No Entry" sign and will do nothing. It is a black and white photo, I have changed from grayscale to RGB, merged layers, saved the image, restarted gimp, everything I can think of but still a "No Entry" sign and no cloning. Does anybody know why? (Nothing I can find on google or groups.google.com) ___ Gimp-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
