I just started using GIMP for Windows and am 
working through the basic tutorial. I noted that 
right away it wants me to use the plug-ins for "plasma" and "bumpmap".  
However, I get the impression that these plug-ins are only available for 
Linux.   Am I right about that?  If not, where can I get the 
Windows plug-ins?

Did you try  right clicking on the image and 
then Filters->Render->Clouds->Plasma... or 
Filters->Map->BumpMap...?

I'm new at this also.  Like John it looks to 
me like the Linux version is better too.  I 
was wondering if there is a way to partition my hard drive with out reformatting 
so I can run Linux on it?
